Sacrament of Reconciliation

Celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation with individual Penitents is the primary mission of the Catholic Center. Proper celebration can include some spiritual advice when the penitent asks for it.

Our priests are happy to provide spiritual help within reason and as time permits. Since confession is our prime work, the priest must be conscious of other penitents waiting their turn. If there are persons waiting the priest may have to limit the amount of time that he can spend with an individual.

Penitents should always make their confession complete to their knowledge and satisfaction on the one hand, but also realize that they do not have to tell the complete details of the background and how their concerns evolved. It is also good to be aware that the confession you are making is YOUR confession.

We cannot confess for another and should not blame others for our own failings.

Some persons request the confessor to be their spiritual director. Having a regular spiritual director is to be encouraged. However, making an agreement for regular spiritual direction is entirely at the discretion of the priest.

It cannot be done in a formal sense during regular hours of confession at the Center. This is so because the primary work of the confessor is to provide the Sacrament of Reconciliation during the regularly scheduled hours for that.
