The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic fraternal service organization. It is named in honor of Christopher Columbus, the discoverer of the Americas and who brought Christianity to the New World. Their efforts came to fruition with the incorporation of the Knights of Columbus on March 29, 1882.

The Knights was formed to render financial aid to members and their families.   As an organization, the Knights – aid one another in times of sickness or death, by means of a simple insurance plan, so that their wives and children would not face abject poverty.

– strengthen themselves and each other in the Faith.
– strengthen families and family life.
– support for their priests and bishops.
– serve Church and community by coming to the aid of those most in need in society.

The principles of the order are charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism.
